Responsible with the implementation of projects or programs for tourism promotion or information, commemoration of major cultural historical events, and rehabilitation, preservation, and development of the city’s cultural landmarks.

Objectives

  • Formulate and supervise the implementation of tourism policies and projects for the development of tourism as an engine of socioeconomic and cultural growth in the City.
  • Evaluate tourism development projects for the issuance of permits and grant of incentives by appropriate goverment agencies, establish a databank of tourism areas and project for investment purpose and encourage private sector investment and participation in tourism activities and projects.
  • Prepare and implement, upon approval, the City Tourism Development Plan.
  • Organize events and activities that will promote the local culture and the historical and tourism attractions of the city.
  • Undertake continuing research studies and survey to support tourism programs, and to analyze economic conditions and trends relating to tourism and travel, and comppile and integrate a statistical databank on the tourism industry in the city.
  • Represent the city in any investment, tourism and promotional activities within the locality, in regional, national and integration levels.
  • Encourage private sector participation and agri-tourism for the preservation of rural life.
  • Submite recommendations to the Sangguniang Panlungsod on possible amendments of this ordinance or the approval of additional ordinances intended to improve the local tourism industry.
  • Coordinate and consult with the private sector and with the City Tourism Council in the developments of the local tourism industry.

Mission

The CTDO shall be the driving force in ensuring the preparation and implementation of a tourism development plan, the enforcement of standards & the collection of statistical data for tourism purposes, to attract tourists who will stay long and generate employment and income for the city.
